MTO Sufi Association proudly sponsored the Sufi Psychology Association's Spring Conference at UC Berkeley. The theme for this conference was "The Spiritual Dimension in Counseling and Psychotherapy".
The term "psychology" itself comes from the Greek terms psyche and logos. Psyche meant breath, Logos meant the word or form which expresses a principle. So psychology originally meant the word for expressing the principle of life, the soul or spirit.
Sufi Psychology is about the original meaning of the word "psychology". Sufi Psychology is the Science of the Soul. It encompasses Western psychology and transcends it, presenting a more complete and explanatory psychology which transcends cultural boundaries and emphasizes the central importance of the soul and spirit. Sufi Psychology centers on developing the abilities and potentialities hidden within each of us, so that we may come to live in harmony, unity, balance and peace.
The purpose of the Sufi Psychology Association is to support publications, research, workshops, conferences, retreats and other events providing educational information about Sufi Psychology to the public.
